Andy Preston's CEO Sleepout and Foundation
Since 2002, Andy Preston has been an active donor, patron and fundraiser for several charities - including being a patron of international children's charity ARK and chair of Fairbridge Teesside (2006-2010), now part of The Prince's Trust.
In 2010 he set about founding Middlesbrough & Teesside Philanthropic Foundation, a charitable movement dedicated to redistributing wealth across Teesside. Since its inception in 2011, and under Andy's chairmanship, the Foundation has raised over £750,000. That money is used to boost the work of vital local projects like funding apprenticeships for Teesside's youngsters, helping to stock local foodbanks and supporting community sports projects like Middlesbrough Homeless Football Club.
In 2013, Andy Preston founded a new charity called CEO Sleepout. This venture inspires Britain's leaders to sleep rough for the night to help fight poverty and homelessness. To date, CEO Sleepouts have happened in Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Cardiff, with many more planned for October 2014 including Wembley Stadium. Always keen to do clever business, he structured CEO Sleepout so that 15% of whatever is raised at national sleepouts comes back to Middlesbrough to fund charitable projects here.
